How to Remove Return & Exchange Shipping Rates After Uninstalling Return Prime

Overview

To support returns and exchanges, specific shipping rates may have been configured in your Shopify store. Since Shopify checkout requires at least one active shipping option, a default rate (e.g., "Free Return Shipping") may have been automatically created by Return Prime if none existed.

This rate was typically hidden from forward (regular) orders and used only for return-related flows.

After uninstalling Return Prime, it is recommended to remove these shipping rates to prevent unintended free shipping or configuration conflicts.


Steps to Remove the Default Return Shipping Rate

  1. Go to Shopify Admin

  2. Click on Settings (bottom-left corner)

  3. Navigate to Shipping and Delivery

  4. Under Shipping Profiles, select the relevant profile

  5. Open all configured Shipping Zones

  6. Locate the rate named "Free Return Shipping" (or similar)

  7. Click Delete to remove the rate


Important Notes

  • Ensure you only remove shipping rates that were created specifically for returns and exchanges

  • Do not delete active shipping rates used for your regular order fulfillment

  • Removing these rates helps avoid unintended free shipping being applied to future orders
